Why do only federal ministries do foresight?
Our offer
The seminar conveys basic strategic foresight skills and knowledge. It empowers participants to approach relevant future questions in a targeted way, conduct small foresight interventions, plan, tender and manage larger foresight processes. Introduced techniques give impulses for systematically exploring the future, structuring one own's analyses and conducting innovative team processes. To this end, the 20-hour seminar (5 x 4 hours) the theoretical foundations of strategic foresight as well as concrete techniques to apply at work.

Target group
The seminar is geared towards decision makers in state ministries and agencies and is open to all members of the higher civil service. Individual spots are open to other actors in state politics to create constructive friction without losing focus. Practical examples and interactive group and individual sessions serve to anchor newly acquired knowledge and create tangible engagement with the substance - learning by doing. After concluding the seminar, an individual coaching-session is offered to answer remaining questions and discuss the possible application of methods and techniques to the personal work context.

Why us?
Foresight Intelligence is an organizational consultancy based in Berlin. For more than 10 years, we support public administrations with foresight processes. We also have many years of experience as university lecturers and associates in research programs. We regularly conduct seminars on strategic foresight methodologies, for example with federal ministries, the Wir haben zudem langjährige Erfahrungen als Universitätsdozenten und Mitarbeiter in Forschungsprogrammen und führen regelmäßig Fortbildungen für Methoden der Strategischen Vorausschau durch, z.B. mit Bundesressorts, der Federal Academy for Security Policy and the European Institute for Public Administration.  1. Foundations of Strategic Foresight |
Module 1 introduces the world of Strategic Foresight and its various approaches, situating it within future research. It provides an overview of the development of the discipline and outlines its applications. Ways of thinking, concepts, and terms are discussed and differentiated. | Participants receive an overview of different approaches to future research. Furthermore, participants learn about the areas of application of Strategic Foresight, its ways of thinking, fundamental concepts, and terms. |
 2. Understanding Challenges |
Module 2 is dedicated to the analysis of a topic's environment. It discusses how topics are defined and delineated; how their environments are systematically examined; and how trends, key factors, risks, and wildcards can be identified and assessed. | Participants learn techniques to analyze contexts and environments, such as horizon scanning. They learn to identify and assess trends, relevant uncertainties, risks and wildcards. |
 3. Where do we want to go and how do we get there? |
Module 3 discusses normative scenario processes and their applications. It discusses the development of visions and the steps that lead from a vision to an action plan. | Participants learn, how to develop long-term visions as well as options to develop roadmaps leading towards them.. |
 4. How can we avoid surprise? |
Module 4 introduces different types of explorative scenarios and their applications.  5. Getting to act |
The last module moves from foresight to strategic foresight.
